Transgender youth brain scans show differences

There's been some interesting research reported providing additional evidence that the brains of transgender adolescents are more like the gender they identify with than their birth gender.

I'm always a bit conflicted when hearing about research like this. There's a huge plus in that it creates tests that can be developed into a diagnostic tool used to confirm that an individual has strong indications of a biological basis for their transgender status.

The negatives are that there may be no single brain based cause of being transgender and that same diagnostic tool might be used to deny the transgender status of people with other causes.

Add to that none of the research seems to be examining non-binary people.

Overall I'd rate it a positive.
